Gower Surfing Schools

This is our guide to surfing schools at Rhossili, Llangennith, Caswell, together with a list of shops that provide surfboard hire at various locations on the Gower peninsula, Swansea Bay and Mumbles. If you are spending your holidays on the Gower peninsula why not try surfing? These schools cater for all abilities and welcome holidaymakers. Most provide surfboards, wetsuits, etc. so you can see if its the sport for you before buying this expensive equipment.

Surfing compares with similar sports like snowboarding/skiing in that the very basic skills can be learned in a day but more tuition time is needed to learn control and intermediate skills. The lessons provided by the following schools give an accelerated introduction into a very difficult sport by the use of ‘beach teaching’ the skills required by qualified instructors able to assess individuals’ ability and surfing conditions. As a measure of the success of the local Surf Schools, the majority of people achieve stand up surfing on their first day. Tuition is also available for surfers who want to improve or learn new skills.

Surfability

Surfability UK logoSurfabilityUK is a Community Interest Company that provides surfing lessons and experiences for people with additional needs due to disability, illness, injury, or learning difficulties.

Our aim is to combine best practices from special education, health care, surfing, and lifeguarding to make surfing as inclusive as possible.  We cater to our surfers’ additional needs so they can get the most out of surfing while having a safe and really enjoyable experience.

We run surfing lessons at the beautiful Caswell Bay on the Gower all year round, with some of the UK’s best beginner waves.  In the winter, we also provide indoor skateboarding lessons for our surfers who find the winter sea too cold.
